What if you had invested every month?

Pick a fund, an amount and a start — we replay it on real historical prices. No account needed.

Bought on the first of each month at that day's real close. Dividends are counted, not reinvested.

How it works

Each month, your amount buys the fund at that month's real closing price. The blue line is what everything bought so far was worth; the dashed line is what you had put in. The gap between them is your gain — or loss.

Putting in a fixed amount every month is how most people invest from a salary. You buy more units when prices are low and fewer when they are high, so a fall along the way is not the end of the story.

VWCE and VT each hold thousands of companies around the world in one fund. SPY tracks the 500 largest US companies; QQQ the 100 largest on the Nasdaq.

It leaves out taxes, broker fees and currency-exchange costs, so a real account would end somewhat lower. And the past is a record, not a promise: the same plan started at another time can end very differently.
